Woman (43) arrested for child neglect

Katlehong SAPS on Saturday, April 15, arrested a 43-year-old woman for child neglect in Katlehong.

Communications official at Katlehong SAPS, Capt Mega Ndobe, said the woman came to report her missing child but it was too late, as a community member had already brought the child to the police station.

“It is alleged that a four-year-old girl was brought to Katlehong Police Station by a community member who found the child crying on the street at Silumaview.

“Her mother only came to report her baby girl as missing at 9pm.

“Police opened a missing-child neglect case for investigation and the suspect was arrested immediately at the police station when she came to report a missing child,” said Ndobe.

He said the child was taken to hospital for a check-up.

“The police organised a place of safety for the little girl.

“The suspect will appear in court soon, charged with child neglect, ” said Ndobe.

The investigation is continuing.
