The Gauteng SAPS Provincial Commissioner Lieut-Gen Deliwe de Lange has expressed her shock at the ruthless murder of two elderly women (a mother and her daughter), aged 70 and 91, at a house in Webber Road, Lambton today (July 12).
The bodies were discovered at about 2pm by another daughter of the 91-year-old victim.
“It is suspected that the victims were assaulted several times with a blunt object.
“At this stage it is suspected that they were followed into the premises as the house was ransacked,” said Col Lungelo Dlamini, spokeperson for the Gauteng province.
It has not yet been established exactly what was stolen and the suspects are unknown.
“Police are still looking for clues at the crime scene that may help in the identification of suspects,” said Dlamini.
“Crimes against children, women and the elderly are a priority and police will make sure that those who are responsible are brought to book,” said de Lange.
