Local eatery to host Christmas in July fund-raiser

Help raise funds for the elderly at Broken Wings Association for Adults with Disabilities.

The Germiston community is invited to attend a Christmas in July event at Copper Canyon Spur in Lambton, on July 25.

The event is aimed at assisting the elderly who reside at Broken Wings Association for Adults with Disabilities.

Broken Wings is a non-profit organisation in Alberton which cares for elderly people living with disabilities.

“Copper Canyon Spur saw the need to help this wonderful organisation,” said Caren Smit, from the restaurant.

“We believe in giving and blessing the less fortunate.

“We will treat the adults from Broken Wings to a “Taste for Life” meal.

“The meal is sponsored by the owner of Tic Toc Pre-School in Lambton, who is a woman with a kind spirit.”

Caren said the community is welcome to join in and help make the day special.

“We invite the community of Germiston to join us to make this day special for those involved,” said Smit.

“People are welcome to sponsor, donate gifts and attend the event.

“The beneficiaries are in need of basic essential such as facecloths, soap, shampoo, deodorant and other toiletries.

“These can come in the form of gifts and people can drop them at the Spur.”

Caren added that the Broken Wings residents will be treated to the full Christmas experience.

“They will have a real Christmas with gifts, Santa Claus and Christmas Carols,” she said.

“Come and help Copper Canyon Spur make this day great for these special adults.”

The event is scheduled to start at 11am and Smit said more activities are expected for later that evening.

“It will be a fun-filled evening with a magician, karaoke and lots of prizes to be won – all in the spirit of Christmas,” said Smit.

“Copper Canyon Spur will donate a percentage of your bill to Broken Wings.

“The evening event will start at 6pm and the community is welcome to join and help make the evening a success for all the special people at Broken Wings.”
