Company gives orphans a helping hand
Neopak, a company based in Wadeville, donated uniforms worth R74 600 to the orphans at Fountain of Love Orphanage on September 26.
The orphanage is home to more than 44 children who attend different schools around Katlehong.
Zama Luhlongwane, Neopak HR business partner, said the orphanage needed a lot of help.
“We felt a need to give back to the community that supports our business. We looked for a school or an NGO that we could give back to. We started our research two years ago.
“While we were busy conducting the research, we met with Rosy Mthembu, the founder of the home, who told us her story about how she struggled to keep the orphanage running. Among the things she mentioned that the home needed were school uniforms. That is why we are here today – to give dignity to the children at the home.”
Neopak donated shoes, tunics, trousers, jerseys, shirts, socks, blazers, dry-macs, hats, scarves, gloves, school bags, skirts and tracksuits, all to the value of R74 600.
The uniforms were for different schools, including Maphanzela, Izibuko, Thulisa, Monde, Reahile, Mogobeng, Phumelela and Alafang.
Mthembu thanked Neopak for donating the uniforms.
“The uniform is one of the needs of the children in the home.
“We really appreciate what the company has done for us, but we still need a lot of support. We don’t only support children in the home. We also give food to old people who live in the surroundings. They come to get food here every day,” said Mthembu.
