A 59-year-old man handed himself over to the Katlehong police, on Thursday, after he allegedly shot and killed his 51-year-old wife.
The shooting took place in Silumaview, in Katlehong, during an argument between the couple.
“The man explained to officers that they had been arguing because his wife had refused to cook him dinner.
“He explained he needed to eat before he could take his medication,” said Capt Mega Ndobe, corporate communication official for the Katlehong police.

The argument became heated and it is alleged that a man took out his licensed firearm and shot at his wife, hitting her in the upper body.
Paramedics were called to the scene and later declared the victim dead.
“The suspect came to the Katlehong Police Station to report the incident and to hand himself over to police,” said Ndobe.
He was arrested and charged with murder.
The matter is being investigated by police and the accused will appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court soon.
