Drugs worth R50 000 found in Katlehong house

EMPD officers raided a house in Katlehong and confiscated drugs.

Acting on a tip-off from members of the public, members of the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit arrested a young man and confiscated drugs, last Tuesday.

The raid took place at 2pm at a house in Maphanga section and the 23-year-old man was found with R1 000 in cash, 93 small green plastic bags of rocks (heroin) and 261 ziplock bags of nyope, all to the estimated street value of R50 000.

The narcotics were found in his pockets, bedroom and in a white midi-bus parked in the yard, belonging to the suspect’s brother.

“The unemployed youth mentioned that this is how he makes a living, before he was arrested and detained at the Katlehong Police Station on charges of possession and dealing in illicit substances,” said Kobeli Mokheseng, EMPD media liaison officer.

The suspect will appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court soon.
