A man has been arrested in Primrose after the bakkie he was driving was found loaded with suspected stolen property.
This comes after patrolling officers from the SAPS’ Ekurhuleni West Cluster Task Team noticed a white bakkie in Johan Rissik Road.
The vehicle was driving without headlights, which aroused the suspicions of the police.

“They tried to stop the vehicle, but it sped off towards the Marathon informal settlement,” explained Primrose SAPS communications officer, Sgt Styles Maome.
The officers gave chase and managed to stop the vehicle.
“When the vehicle stopped the passenger jumped out of the vehicle and disappeared into the darkness, leaving the 43-year-old driver behind,” said Maome.
Police searched the vehicle and found it loaded with computer screens, monitors, hard drives, a microwave oven and many other loose electrical items.
“When the driver was questioned he couldn’t explain where he had acquired the items or give officers any proof of purchase,” said Maome.
The man was arrested and charged with possession of suspected stolen property.
He will appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon.
