Man attacked, car stolen

Primrose police arrest a 28-year-old man for theft of a motor vehicle.

A man was allegedly assaulted and his vehicle stolen at Howe Circle in Sunnyridge recently

“The complainant told police that he had visited the circle with a friend,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“His friend told him to wait in the vehicle as he would not be long.”

Feeling his friend was taking too long, the man got out of his vehicle and began to walk towards the flats his friend was visiting.

“He was allegedly approached by two men who attacked him,” said Maome.

“During the attack the man lost his vehicle’s keys.”

He managed to escape from the men, but was unable to retrieve the keys.

“When he returned to where he had parked his vehicle a while later, he discovered it had been stolen.”

The police arrested a 28-year-old man in connection with the crime.

He appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where his case was postponed for plea and trial.

The police are still searching for the second suspect.
