Ackermans staff held up and store robbed in Elspark

The Elsburg police have opened a case of business robbery after Ackermans at the Pick n Pay Centre in Elspark was robbed last Monday morning. “At 10am this morning four suspects, armed with firearms, entered Ackermans and held up the staff. The suspects made off with an undisclosed amount of money, cellphones and clothing,” said Capt André de Jager, the spokesperson for the Ekurhuleni West Cluster SAPS.

Man nabbed with dagga at Germiston Taxi Rank

After receiving an anonymous tip-off, officers from the Germiston SAPS Task Team arrested a 33-year-old man for possession of and dealing in dagga. The arrest was made at the Germiston Taxi Rank. “The suspect was found among a group of people who were washing their taxis,” said Const Maxwell Mabunda, communications head for the Germiston SAPS.

Calling all young entrepreneurs

The metro invited youth-owned small, medium and micro enterprises in Ekurhuleni to enter the Lions’ Den Pitching Challenge. The challenge took place during the Ekurhuleni Youth Economic Summit held from June 14 to 15 at the Birchwood Hotel and Conference Centre in Boksburg.

Car plummets off bridge in Germiston damaging Metrorail infrastructure

The Metrorail train services running between Germiston-Kwesine were grounded on Wednesday morning due to damaged overhead wires at Webber Station. A motor vehicle fell from the overhead bridge on Webber Road onto the tracks last Tuesday night damaging overhead power cables and other infrastructural components between Elsburg and India stations.
