Four karate students will be competing in the fifth IKKF-World Karate Tournament in Baku Azerbaijan.
Kyokushin Karate Club in Katlehong, under the leadership of sensei Thulane Sibisi, will be sending four karate students to the fifth IKKF-World Karate Tournament in Baku Azerbaijan.
The students selected to participate are sensei Katleho Hlatshwayo, sensei Mbali Msomi, sempai Lerato Nkopane and shodan Rethabile Tshabalala.
The club trains at Mpontsheng Secondary School.
“For the past five years my students have been training hard and they have been involved in many tournaments, workshops, seminars and motivational programmes to prepare them for this event,” said Sibisi.
“We believe in this team because they have shown the maturity for and the understanding of full contact karate by winning provincial and national tournaments and by being loyal to the sport of karate.

“We thank the parents of the club members for their continuous support and all our stakeholders, namely Ekurhuleni Sports and Recreation, National Lotto Commission, Gauteng Sports and Recreation, Man’s Forum and Shaun Haron.”
The team left on Monday and will return on June 26.
