A team of officers from the Primrose Police Station, with members of the Primrose Crime Prevention Youth Desk, recently visited both Sunnyridge and Primrose primary schools.
The visit was aimed at promoting a safe learning environment.
“During the visit, we encouraged the learners to study hard in order to achieve their goals,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.
The officers also strongly discouraged the children from bringing weapons to school.

“We have received a number of complaints about learners who bring illegal substances, knives and other dangerous weapons to school,” said Maome.
To address the complaints, police searched the bags of several learners.
“We found nothing illegal which is encouraging,” said Maome.
“The only things that were found were steel spoons and forks, and we encouraged the learners to rather use plastic ones as steel ones can be used as a dangerous weapon during a fight.”

The management of each school thanked the team for the visit and hope to see them again in the near future.
