Man arrested for multiple charges

Primrose police apprehend man for assault and the possession of a dangerous weapon.

A 27-year-old man was arrested by the Primrose police last Friday.

The man was charged with assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm and possession of a dangerous weapon after he allegedly stabbed a man in Rietfontein Road.

“The victim told officers that he had just left one of the local shops in Rietfontein Road when he saw the accused.

“The accused allegedly asked him why he was looking at him like he was a woman.

“The victim went closer to the man in an attempt to hear what he was saying,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

Becoming angry the man allegedly pulled out a sharp object and stabbed the victim three times in the upper body.

“The suspect then allegedly ran away leaving the victim lying on the pavement,” said Maome.

Paramedics were called to the scene and the complainant was taken to hospital for medical attention.

Police were able to arrest the suspect soon after the incident.

During his arrest, a dangerous weapon, believed to be the one he used to stab the victim, was found in his possession.
