“This year marks 24 years of existence since the NGO was founded in 1994, which is also the year South Africans cast their votes for the first time to give authority to the democratically elected government to rule this country. The fact that we celebrated 24 years of democracy this year, gives us more reasons to celebrate in style on our 24th AGM,” said Phumlani Ndaba, the programme director for the day.

“Working together to ensure self-reliance within the community we serve, this is our theme for this year,” said the executive director of EMHTC, Zodwa Mzondo. Zodwa further thanked the founder of the organisation, Johonna Kistner, for her undying commitment to making the organisation what it is today.

“I’m honoured to have the person who started this organisation so many years ago gracing us with her presence.”

Mzondo also said this year her speech won’t be that of a director but she will speak as an ambassador of the organisation because she wants to promote the brand image of the organisation.
