Breaking News: Active crime scene in Marlands, avoid the area

The SAPS were on the scene of an alleged shooting in Marlands, which took place on the corner of Fourth Avenue and First Street, on Thursday. People were advised to avoid the area as it was an active crime scene.
Grant-in-Aid applications are open

The metro invites organisations located in Ekurhuleni to apply for Grant-in-Aid assistance for the 2018/2019 financial year. Applications are open until October 31. The Grant-in-Aid funding is one of the metro’s development programmes set to financially assist organisations that share a common mission of improving the quality of life for residents of Ekurhuleni.
The three most dangerous snakes on the East Rand

The warm weather means snakes will now be up and about after a long period of hibernation, hungry and in search of food. From mid-August until late May it is snake season. More than 80 per cent of all snake bites in South Africa occurs between January and April and in the early evening with people accidentally stepping on snakes.
Police celebrate Heritage Day in style

The Katlehong North Police Station was a hive of activity as officers and staff celebrated Heritage Day. The team embraced the diversity of the day by dressing up in their cultures’ traditional attire and preparing and sharing a selection of delicious foods from various ethnic groups. The event was memorable and a great success.

The staff canteen of Life Roseacres Hospital was filled with colour and delicious smells, recently. The hospital’s Heritage Day “Bring and Share” event saw doctors, nurses and hospital staff coming together to celebrate their different cultures and heritages.
