Primrose police arrest five for alleged drunk driving

Five suspects were arrested by the Primrose police for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.

Five suspects were arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol during several stop-and-search operations conducted by officers from the Primrose police.

The stop-and-search was held by officers last Friday night and lasted into the early hours of last Saturday morning.

“The accused, aged between 21 and 53 years old, were arrested in different areas within our policing precinct.

“Each of the suspects was stopped by police who reported they could barely walk or talk when asked to exit their vehicles.

“Alcohol could also be smelt by the officers,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

They were all taken to hospital for blood tests after which the accused were detained at the Primrose Police Station.

A number of suspects paid admission of guilt fines before being released while others remained in custody before appearing in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for plea and trial.
