Officers from the Katlehong North SAPS Crime Prevention Unit arrested three men, aged 20, 29 and 32 years old, respectively, last Tuesday.
The men were charged with business robbery, armed robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
The firearm, a 9mm, found in the men’s possession had its serial number filed off. It was confiscated by police during the arrest.

The arrests were made following an investigation by Const Thabo Matiwane, Const Sandile Mthethwa and Const Takalani Matumba into the alleged robbery of a local shop.
Suspects were detained for business robbery, possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition and armed robbery.
They will appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court soon.
Katlehong North SAPS station commander Col Reginah Rampota congratulated the officers on the arrest and urged the community to be vigilant at all times.

“Suspects are often armed and dangerous,” she said.
She further requested that the community come forward with information that can lead to the arrest of criminals, and they must not take the law into their own hands.
