The EMPD High-Speed Unit was out on the N3 south highway, last Sunday, between 5am and 11am.
Between the Geldenhuys interchange and the Rand Airport Road off-ramp, the members apprehended four drivers for going over the 120km/h speed limit.
The arrestees were all males, aged between 28 and 42, and caught doing speeds of between 161km/h and 171km/h, citing a variety of reasons.
They were all locked up at the Germiston Police Station on charges of reckless and negligent driving.
If bail is granted, it could be from R1 000 each.
They are expected to appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon.
