Number of Germiston suburbs without power
A number of Germiston suburbs were without power last Monday. Ward 36 councillor Wendy Morgan gave the GCN information regarding the power outages that affected the city.
Seven speedsters to face charges
The EMPD High-Speed Unit was out on the N12 highway in Meadowdale, between Sam Green Bridge and the Edenvale Road off-ramp, last Sunday, to conduct speed law enforcement.
Loud music troubles Primrose residents
Residents in Primrose have recently been plagued by extremely loud music coming from the Makause informal settlement. “A number of residents in our area have been reaching out to our authorities to no avail,” said Johan la Grange, a resident of Primrose. “The music is playing extremely loud right through the weekend – how can one expect to rest with such havoc surrounding our peaceful neighbourhoods?”
Germiston roots run deep in family
It’s a family rooted in Germiston which has lived through many ups and downs in the city. The GCN met four generations of women from the family, namely Lida van Zyl, Rennie Greeff, Charise Greeff and Amorey Staschik (1), recently.
Update: Rowing South Africa speaks following Germiston Lake tragedy
Rowing South Africa has shed some light on the tragic lightning strike that led to the death of a 19-year-old coach and the injury of a 14-year-old rower at Germiston Lake, recently. Both coach and rower, whose names are yet to be released, were affiliated to Somerset College in the Western Cape.
