Hawker arrested for allegedly selling dagga at Elandsfontein Train Station
EMPD members arrested a man and confiscated dagga and cash in Elandsfontein.
EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit members attended to a complaint regarding a hawker allegedly selling dagga, last Sunday, at midday.
It was alleged that he was selling dagga from his red container at the Elandsfontein Train Station.
The hawker, who openly sells sweets, chips and cigarettes, allegedly covertly sells dagga.
Upon investigation the EMPD officers arrested the 41-year-old man after dagga worth about R6 000 was found in the container.

“The metro police discovered 80 small ziplock bags weighing 223.55 grams, one large plastic bag weighing 168.60 grams and three medium-sized ziplock bags weighing 69.10 grams. Altogether, 461.25 grams of dagga was seized,” said spokesperson for the EMPD Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago.
“A few ziplock bags were also found in the man’s possession, hidden in his socks.
“Cash amounting to R580 suspected to be proceeds from dagga sales was also confiscated.”
The arrested suspect was detained at the Bedfordview Police Station and was expected to appear in the Edenvale Magistrate’s Court last Monday.
