New chapter for Roseacres paediatric ward
Life Roseacres Hospital is thrilled with the new look of the hospital’s paediatric ward.
Bright, open, airy and welcoming.
These words could best describe the paediatric ward at the Life Roseacres Hospital which recently received a revamp.
“Change and growth are very important,” said the hospital’s marketing coordinator Karen Landsberg when she gave the GCN a tour of the ward, on Wednesday.
During the visit, the GCN was introduced to the ward’s new unit manager, Sr Roewayda Goldsworthy.
“The revamp took about two months to complete, with work starting in late December,” explained Goldsworthy, who became unit manager in January.
As a lot of the work was done during the hospital’s quiet time in December when there were little to no disruptions.

“The paediatric ward was moved to the Roseview ward, which meant we were still separate from everyone else and we could continue to carry out our duties as normal,” explained Goldsworthy.
The most exciting addition to the ward is the inclusion of a paediatric ICU.
When asked how the paediatric ICU will benefit the ward she said, “I think it will be a huge benefit, especially in the care of neo-natal ICU patients who have left the hospital and had to come back.
“They cannot be readmitted into the neo-natal ICU and need to come to the paediatric ward and now we have an ICU ward to care for them.”
Goldsworthy and her staff are thrilled with the renovations.
“It really is more open and spacious and orderly.
“Everything is child related and we are getting great feedback from the parents,” said Goldsworthy.
The hospital hopes the beautiful revamp will improve patients’ experiences and help staff better care for not only the children, but their parents too.
Landsberg explained that going forward the hospital will upgrade and revamp different wards.
