Fourteen suspects arrested in Katlehong

The Katlehong police arrested 14 suspects during a number of different weekend operations.

Fourteen suspects were arrested in Katlehong last weekend.

The accused were arrested during several different operations conducted by officers from the Katlehong SAPS Crime Prevention Unit, detectives from the Katlehong Police Station and EMPD between March 22 and 24.

The suspects were arrested for various offences.

Charges included assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, domestic violence, malicious damage to property, shoplifting, warrant of arrest, possession of drugs and driving under the influence of alcohol.

EMPD officers also issued a number of fines to motorists.

Katlehong SAPS acting station commander Col Doctor Sibuyi commended the team on their efforts but admitted he had hoped for more arrests.

He further encouraged the community to report crimes as soon as they happen.

“We need to work together to fight crime,” he said.

All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.
