Elderly enjoy a morning of pampering

Members of Rest-a-While Service Centre for the Elderly enjoyed a health and beauty morning at the centre, last Wednesday.

Members of Rest-a-While Service Centre for the Elderly enjoyed a morning of pampering, last Wednesday.

Beauty therapists in training from the Beauty Hub Academy Johannesburg spoilt the centre’s members with manicures, pedicures, haircuts and styling and neck and back massages.

“The Gauteng Department of Social Development sponsored these pamper visits,” explained Trudy Carreira, Rest-a-While manager.

“We think this is an amazing initiative by government as it is something not many elderly citizens have money for and the spoils mean so much to them.

“To see the joy and appreciation on their faces is just wonderful.”

Personnel from Primrose-based Ackermans Pharmacy were also on hand and took the members’ vitals, like blood pressure and blood sugar levels, and also administered flu vaccines, making sure the elderly residents focus on their health.

“The members had such a nice day,” said Trudy.
