Seventeen arrested by Katlehong SAPS

Katlehong police arrest 17 suspects in several weekend operations.

Katlehong police hosted several weekend operations, as part of Operation Paseka, in their precinct in an ongoing effort to curb crime.

During the operations, held between May 3 and 5, officers from the Katlehong police’s Crime Prevention Unit, and detectives from the Katlehong Police Station, arrested 17 suspects.

The accused were arrested for a number of different offences.

Charges included rape, assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of suspected stolen property, common assault, malicious damage to property, theft and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Katlehong SAPS station commander Brig Sammy Thambo thanked everyone who contributed to the successful arrests.

He further encouraged the Katlehong community to report crime as soon as it happens.

The arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.

Operation Paseka continues.
