9 killed, 20 injured following multiple-vehicle collision on the N3 near the Barry Marais Offramp

Paramedics assessed the patients and found that nine people had sustained fatal injuries. Nothing could be done for them and they were declared dead.

Nine people have been killed and at least twenty others injured this afternoon, May 27 following a multiple-vehicle collision on the N3 near the Barry Marais Offramp in Vosloorus.

ER24 personnel, along with other services, arrived on the scene at 13h10 to find at least four trucks and four light motor vehicles scattered all along the road. Numerous patients were found lying on the road as well as several found inside the various vehicles.

Paramedics assessed the patients and found that nine people had sustained fatal injuries. Nothing could be done for them and they were declared dead.

At least twenty other patients were attended to on the scene. Assessments showed that the injuries sustained ranged from minor to critical.

Medics from various services treated the patients and provided the critically injured with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, the patients were transported by various services to nearby hospitals.

The details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
