Busy weekend for Katlehong police

Katlehong police arrested 27 suspects during several different weekend operations.

Twenty-seven suspects were arrested in Katlehong during several different weekend operations.

The operations, held between July 26 and 28, were conducted by members of the Katlehong SAPS Crime Prevention Unit with help from detectives from the Katlehong Police Station and EMPD officers.

The accused were charged with various offences.

Charges included murder, assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, common assault, domestic violence, interfering with police duties, theft, robbery, shoplifting, possession of drugs and driving under the influence of alcohol.

The EMPD also issued a number of fines to motorists during several roadblocks in the area.

All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for a number of different reasons.

The Katlehong police will continue to hold similar operations in the area.

Following the arrests Katlehong SAPS Brig Sammy Thambo station commander sent a stern warning to the community, “We will leave no stone unturned in our quest to find those who break the law,” he said.
