Suspects put behind bars for various offences

Ekurhuleni district police stations, with the EMPD, continued with their crime prevention duties during the weekend of August 16 to 18 in an effort for the communities to feel and be safe.

Eden Park, Katlehong North, Katlehong South, Tokoza, Vosloorus and Zonkizizwe police stations conducted roadblocks, stop-and-search operations as well as tracing of wanted suspects according to dockets at hand in different policing areas.

Zonkizizwe police spokesperson Sgt Rufus Tema said during the operations, the law enforcement agencies collectively nabbed 99 suspects for a variety of offences.

“They were arrested for crimes such as assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, attempted rape, murder, child negligent, kidnapping, attempted murder, theft, house breaking and theft, interference with police duties, business robbery, shoplifting, possession of unlicensed firearm, possession of drugs, dealing in dagga and drunk driving,” said Tema.

All arrested suspects are expected to appear in various courts in the district.
