Man nabbed with copper cables

Primrose police apprehend man on a charge of possession of stolen copper cables.

While on patrol in Du Preez Road in Primrose recently officers from the Primrose Police Station noticed two men pulling heavy trolleys down the street.

“Due to the high number of burglaries being reported in our precinct, the officers decided to stop the men and search them,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“As the police approached them one of the men ran while the second was cornered.

“During a search of the trolleys, 33 four metre long copper cables, valued at of R50 000, were found.”

The 28-year-old suspect could not explain where the cables had come from and was arrested on a charge of possession of stolen copper cables.

He was held at the Primrose Police Station pending his appearance in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court.
