A swift response from members of the Germiston Flying Squad led to the arrest of three men in possession of stolen property, last Sunday.
At about 4.50am, members of Germiston Flying Squad, together with members of E-Tracker, arrested the men, aged between 35 and 45.
It is alleged there was a business burglary at a cellphone shop at Mathambo Shopping Centre in the early hours of the same morning.
The unknown number of suspects took cellphones, a laptop and an undisclosed sum of money from the shop.
The estimated value of the items they took is R70 000.
“The E-Tracker company members apparently received a panic signal from one of the cellphones taken and responded to the signal, which led them to Roodekop Street in Rondebult,” said Const Ntombikayise Ngcobo, communications officer for the Germiston Flying Squad.
“They requested assistance from Sgt Johnny Moloto and Sgt Thamsanqa Motlaping who were on their way to report for duty.
“Upon their arrival at the place where the panic signal was emanating from, the officers found three parked vehicles.
“A black BMW X5 was parked inside the premises and a white Jetta and red Citi Golf were outside the yard.
“Three suspects were offloading the items allegedly taken from the cellphone shop.
“When they saw the police cars coming in their direction they fled the scene on foot.”

“Other cellphones where found in the BMW and the Jetta,” said Ngcobo.
“The three suspects were arrested on a charge of possession of stolen property.
“The arrested suspects were out on bail for various crimes committed earlier this year and they will appear in court soon.
