Const Daphney Phooko, the communications officer for the Elsburg SAPS, has told the GCN that three shops in the Elsburg policing area have been looted since widespread violence broke out in Gauteng on Sunday.
She said the looted shops are located in Rondebult Extension Two.
They are:
• Allmakas Shop in Melton Street was vandalised.
• Railway Supermarket in Kauka Street was looted.
• Almochar Supermarket in Mfundo Street was looted and damaged.
Phooko added that in Elsburg itself shops in the CBD closed their doors on Tuesday due to the threat of looting, but none occurred.
