Katlehong North SAPS holds successful weekend operations

Katlehong North Police Station officers took to the streets of their precinct in an effort to curb crime in the area.

During weekend operations, which focused on several problem crimes in the area, including but not limited to violence against women and children, drug-related crimes, serious and violent crimes, the illegal sale of alcohol and road traffic offences, 16 suspects were arrested.

The accused were charged with various offences.

Charges included:

• Driving under the influence of alcohol: 8

• Possession of drugs: 2

• Common assault: 2

• Shoplifting: 2

• Malicious damage to property: 1

• Common robbery: 1

Officers also closed an illegal tavern and seized litres of alcohol during the operation.

All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.
