Update: Brits’ inquest postponed as court awaits pathology report

The inquest into the death of Celia Brits was postponed in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court last Wednesday.

Celia Brits died in the Life Roseacres Hospital in March 2016.

Following her death, the state opened an inquest to determine which incidents resulted in the cause of death and whether anyone should be held responsible.

The inquest proceedings are underway in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, and last Wednesday the second half of the inquest was due to begin.

However, the inquest, which is being overseen by Magistrate M Dawray, was postponed to January, next year, to await the submission of a pathology report.

The next court dates agreed on for the inquest to continue were January 13, 14 and 15.
