While on patrol in Lobelia Road last Friday, officers from the Primrose Police Station noticed a car driving erratically.

“The officers stopped the vehicle and approached the 46-year-old driver,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.
“The man allegedly smelt of liquor, had red eyes and could hardly stand when officers asked him to exit the vehicle.
“When asked how many beers he’d had he allegedly said a few.”
The man was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol and taken to a local hospital for a blood test.

“We appeal to the community not to drink and drive as this can lead to accidents and fatalities,” said Maome.
The suspect was released after paying bail and told to appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court.
