Help Spur Copper Canyon make a difference in Conor’s life
Have a meal and help raise funds for Conor to have a kidney transplant.
Conor van Baalen from Brakpan is only six years old and each day he has to undergo 12 hours of dialysis.
He is in desperate need of a kidney transplant and in order to have the life-saving operation his parents need to raise R500 000.
Copper Canyon Spur Germiston heard of Conor’s plight and will be holding a fund-raiser for him on November 1.
“We are proud to be joining hands with some of our generous suppliers to be able to make a difference,” said Madeleine de Beer from Copper Canyon Spur.
“The only way Conor will be able to play and run with his twin brother Kody is to receive a new kidney.”
Conor’s parents, Hennie and Santie, told the GCN that Conor started medication for his kidneys when he was 18 months old.
At two years old he underwent an operation and a kidney biopsy was done.

“He was diagnosed with steroid resistant FSGS (focal segmental glomerular sclerosis), and the only way forward is a kidney transplant,” said Santie.
Copper Canyon Spur is urging the community to help towards Conor’s kidney transplant by coming along on November 1 and ordering a meal.
“Fifteen per cent of the takings from 5pm until closing on that night will be donated to Conor,” said Madeleine.
“There will also be lots of exciting hampers which will be raffled to raise extra funds.
“Please come and support the evening and help us make a difference.”
