Man arrested for pointing a firearm at a victim in Rietfontein Road

Primrose police apprehend man on a charge of pointing a firearm at a victim in Rietfontein Road, while accomplice escapes.

While walking in Rietfontein Road, last Thursday, two friends were approached by two men.

“One of the men allegedly threatened the two friends with a firearm and ordered them to remain still,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“One of the friends, however, decided to run away and with the help of another friend called the police.

“Officers were able to trace the suspects and the remaining victim.

“The 19-year-old suspect in possession of the firearm was arrested, while the second suspect escaped.”

The man was arrested on a charged of pointing a firearm at a victim.

He has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where his case was postponed for plea and trial.

“A manhunt has been launched to find the suspect’s accomplice,” said Maome.
