Officers from the Katlehong SAPS Crime Prevention Unit, with the help of detectives from the Katlehong Police Station and EMPD, held several operations over the weekend.

The operations held between November 1 and 3 led to the arrest of 18 suspects.
The accused were charged with several different offences.
Charges included assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, rape, common assault, common robbery, kidnapping, pointing a firearm, malicious damage to property, interfering with police duties, shoplifting, dealing in drugs and driving under the influence of alcohol.
Katlehong SAPS station commander Col Sammy Thambo was pleased with the arrests made and encouraged the community to continue to help in the fight against crime.

“We urge our community to be safe and get involved in the fight against crime during the festive season,” said Thambo.
All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court where their cases were postponed for various reasons.
