LamDel RA ready to celebrate the festive season

Come and join LamDel Residents Association (RA) at their Christmas under the Stars event on December 7.

Come one, come all to LamDel Residents Association’s (RA) Christmas under the Stars.

This fun-filled family-friendly event will be held at Laerskool Delville, located in Third Avenue, Lambton, on December 7.

The festivities will kick off at 3pm and run into the night, ending at about 9pm.

“We are very excited about this event,” said Lornette Joseph, LamDel RA chairperson.

“We think it’s the first event of its kind in our suburb, and what better time of the year than Christmas, and what better way to end off a difficult year for so many than with some family fun?”

The event will have a host of activities to enjoy, from a variety of stalls, for some last-minute Christmas shopping or some delicious food, to live entertainment from a host of local singers.

Even Santa will be making a special stop at the event between 4pm and 5.30pm to listen to what the attending children would like for Christmas.

“Santa is even bringing along his special postbox, so that children can put their letters to Santa in the postbox, saving mom and dad on postage.

“The event will end in style with a Christmas-themed movie under the stars – power and weather permitting,” said Lornette.

Jakkie Janse van Vuuren, head of communications and vice-chairperson for LamDel RA shared some more of the event’s details.

“We wanted the community to have somewhere local that they could come together and celebrate Christmas in a fun, safe way,” said Jakkie.

“With this in mind, we have decided we will not be charging an entrance fee into the event or to watch the movie.

“The event is also not limited to LamDel RA members but to everyone from our area and our neighbouring areas.”

During the event, LamDel RA will be hosting several raffles and encourages attendees to get their tickets, as there are some exciting prizes up for grabs.

“Unfortunately, putting on an event like this does cost money and we are actively looking for sponsorship for the event,” said Lornette.

“We are extremely proud to be teaming up with Sean Bakos and his team, from Just Go With It (Pty) Ltd, who will be sponsoring the sound, stage, movie screen and projector equipment for us.

“Sean and his company are always very willing to assist us and jump on board in giving back to the community.

“But even with the huge donation of equipment to use on the night, there are still other costs involved, such as staff to run the equipment, hiring of additional lighting, electricians and incidentals, such as cleaning products.”

So while the event is completely free, LamDel RA will have a donation box available should anyone wish to donate on the evening.

“It’s not about raising huge funds, it’s about being able to hopefully break even, and bring the community together,” said Jakkie.

So bring along your blankets and pillows and the entire family and support this fun local event.

“Please note that no alcohol or glass will be allowed at the venue,” said Lornette.

If you are a vendor and would like a stall at the event, contact LamDel RA by calling 071 230 8029 or email info@lamdel.org.za.

If you are a company or individual and would like to sponsor the event, contact Lornette directly on 083 847 4510.

“We really want to make this an annual event, one that all the residents and neighbours will come to love, enjoy and look forward to each year,” said Lornette.
