Elsburg Sector One CPF and Elsburg SAPS celebrate a year of excellent service
Elsburg CPF ends their year with a night of awards and appreciation.
Members of the Elsburg Sector One CPF were full of excitement and anticipation as they recently celebrated their annual awards evening.
The event was held at the Dutch Reformed Church in Elsburg and was attended by Faith Mazibuko, MEC for the Gauteng Department of Community Safety; Col Linah Thethe, station commander of the Elsburg SAPS; Johan Lourens, Elsburg Sector One CPF and Elsburg CPF chairperson; his wife Anne-Marie; Const Erin Palmer, Elsburg SAPS Sector One manager; Margaret Sekul, Elsburg CPF secretary; Lt Col Roelien Opperman; Jaco Opperman, Wadeville Business Against Crime chairperson; Lornette Joseph, community safety representative for Ward 39; as well as other members of the Elsburg Sector One CPF and Elsburg SAPS.
Lourens honoured the members of the Elsburg SAPS and Elsburg Sector One CPF for their efforts in ensuring that the community is secure and safe, while Mazibuko thanked the members of the Elsburg SAPS and Elsburg Sector One CPF for their dedication and excellent service.
“I am aware there is a problem with crime in Gauteng,” said Mazibuko.
“Gauteng is known as the crime capital, but no longer as a ‘gangsters paradise’.
“The Gauteng government is committed to making the province a safe and secure place for all, that is why Col Thethe and her fellow policemen and policewomen ensure that there is visible policing.”
“Thank you, Elsburg CPF, for standing with us,” said Thethe.
The following members of the Elsburg SAPS received awards:
• Shift A: Investigation of cases involving possession of an unlicensed firearm and business robbery (two arrests and recovery of a firearm): Const Nkosinathi Nkwanyana and Const Bhekumuzi Smiley Lukhele.
• Shift B: Public violence cases (15 arrests): Sgt Morape Emmanuel Lepulana and Const Antholus Rodney Mashaba.
• Shift C: Possession of stolen property (five cases): Sgt Mokata Eric Ramasodi and Const Mmeshi Aubrey Segatle.
• Shift D: Possession of unlicensed firearm (two cases): Const Nsizwa Nicholas Mashele and Const Ntlaiseng Gift Komana.
• Crime Combating Team Task Shift A: Crimes dependent on police actions (good arrests): Const Velaphi Zwane, Const Praisegod Thokizani Mpanza, and Const Matheus Mohale Maake.
• Crime Combating Task Team Shift B: Crimes dependent on police actions (good arrests): Const Vhutshilo Netshidzivhe, Const Katleho Molefe, Const Albert Kwinikwa and Const Thembani Goodman Msweli.
• Crime Combating Task Team Shift C: Crimes dependent on police actions (good arrests): Const Thabiso Donald Nonyane, Const Michael Mhlamonyane and Const Noel Hobyane.
• Best detective on murder cases: Sgt Opi Sam Molopyane.
• High detection on newly reported cases: Const Mosito Caiphus Ratsupa and Const Sandie David Magubane.
• Best solving rate on domestic violence cases: WO David Ntshipi Mohale.
• Social crime prevention: Sgt Rose Monageng.
• Communications officer: Const Daphney Phooko.

The following members of the Elsburg Sector One CPF received awards: Johan Lourens, Elsburg CPF chairperson; Anne-Marie Lourens, deputy secretary; Thys Lourens, Elsburg Sector One CPF trainer; Elsabe Koen; Adele Snyman; Gregory Smith; Tina Kapp; Jean Claude Pieterse; Wayne Pieterse; Adriaan Coenraad; Louisa van Vliet; Meleney Stassen; André Mollentze; Jaco Opperman; Tia van As and Thys van As.
The Elsburg Sector One CPF is also saying goodbye to a dedicated and hard-working member, Marie Myer, who has been a member since 2014.
“Marie is a very vibrant lady who patrols and is always there when asked for her help,” said Lourens.
The Elsburg Sector One CPF will be delivering Christmas packages to needy families in Elsburg on December 24.
