Tip-off leads to arrest of alleged drug dealer

The Elsburg police apprehended a 35-year-old man on a charge of drug possession.

While on patrol in Wadeville recently, officers from the Elsburg Police Station’s Crime Combating Unit received a tip-off about a man allegedly selling drugs in Bezuidenhout Street.

The officers travelled to the address given and found a 35-year-old man, who matched the description given by the informant, standing on the corner.

“Police searched the man and found 13 green plastic bags, containing a brown powder believed to be nyaope and three clear plastic bags, containing a substance believed to be crystal meth,” said Const Daphney Phooko, communications officer for the Elsburg police.

The man was arrested on a charge of drug possession and taken to the Elsburg Police Station.

He will appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon.
