Man allegedly assaulted and forced to confess to crime he did not commit

Primrose police apprehend two suspects on a charge of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

A Makause informal settlement man recently opened a case of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm after he was allegedly attacked by three men in his home.

“The victim alleged that one of the suspects came into his shack and started accusing him of stealing his property,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“The man left and returned a short time later with two friends.

“The suspects allegedly tied up the victim with razor wire and punched and hit him, all while demanding he confess to the crime.”

The victim sustained serious injuries all over his body and needed medical attention.

Using the description given by the victim, police were able to trace and arrest two of the alleged attackers.

“The men, aged 25 and 49 years, were arrested on a charge of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm,” said Maome.

“A manhunt was launched to find the remaining suspect.”

The arrested suspects were detained at the Primrose Police Station pending their appearance in Germiston Magistrate’s Court.
