EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit members on patrol in Katlehong last Thursday arrested a suspicious-looking woman after conducting a body search and discovering an alleged illicit substance.
“The 35-year-old woman was found loitering in Nyanga Street, and was handcuffed and marched to the Katlehong Police Station after the officers uncovered four ziplock bags of Kat valued at R800 in her possession,” said Kobeli Mokheseng, spokesperson for the EMPD.
A further six alleged drug dealers were arrested the next day by EMPD officers from the EMPD Eastern Region Task Team.
The six men were nabbed at their various places of residence in Mokabane, Mokofane and Shakwane streets in Tsakani Extension Six.
The men are aged between 20 and 35 years old.

“They were picked up during a sting operation following a tip-off,” said Mokheseng.
The officers discovered 53 pieces of rick cocaine, 25kg of dagga and 643 knotted plastic bags and ziplock bags of nyaope valued at R39 740.
The men were taken to the Tsakani Police Station.
All seven of the detained suspects are facing charges of possession of and dealing in illicit substances.
They will appear in the Palm Ridge and Tsakani magistrate’s courts soon.
