Fitness trainer encourages clean eating and healthy lifestyle

Fitness trainer Lwandile Mrwarwaza said now is the time for people to kick off their fitness journey and eat healthily.

Lockdown challenged everyone in different ways.

Others learned new skills, reconnected as a family and others adopted unhealthy eating habits and are now looking for ways to getting back to a healthy lifestyle.

Fitness trainer Lwandile Mrwarwaza said now is the time for people to kick off their fitness journey and eat healthily.

Lwandile is a qualified fitness trainer. He studied with Health and Fitness Professionals Association (HFPA) and has been a trainer for over five years.

“I have always been active and big on healthy living and eating. When I decided to be a fitness trainer it became my mission to inspire people to want to be healthy and look after themselves,” said Lwandile.

He said living a healthy lifestyle takes patience and commitment.

“Start by doing low-impact exercises and build from there,” said Lwandile.

“Start running short distances or walk and gradually progress to jogging.

“Running also allows for social distancing.”

He encouraged families to adopt healthy lifestyles.

“Exercising is important for the whole family because it’s not only about the weight. It’s also about looking after yourself.”

He advised exercising for about 30 minutes to about an hour a day, three times to maintain health.

He emphasised the need for healthy eating too.

“Just start by eating clean and healthy. Make sure your daily intake includes all the micro-nutrients like fats and carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins,” advised Lwandile.

He said parents can instill a healthy lifestyle in children by encouraging playtime.

“Download online or even dance videos and have fun while helping your child be active,” said Lwandile.
