The flat accommodated three people; mom Jacqueline, dad Phakamisa and their five-year-old grandchild.

“Thank you to the people who drove to Primrose to bring some of the donations and those who came to show their love and support.”

Jacqueline said initially it was hard to wake up every morning knowing she lost everything in one day.

“I would like to thank everyone who helped us through this difficult time.”

Phakamisa said he loves everything he got from community members.

“It meant a lot when people extended a helping hand. It shows there are still people who care,” said Phakamisa.

Zinhle said the community was helpful with her parents’ clothing and toiletries.

She added they also received crockery, a butchery voucher, bedding and blankets only to name a few things.

“The flat is not completely restored due to some incomplete materials, however, we are in the process of fixing it.

“Thank you all, may you be blessed for helping us,” said Phakamisa.
