Youth desk to engage young people on social ills
He said one of their biggest concern is the increase number on young people who are turning to the life of crime in the area.
Primrose Police Station Youth Desk said it is ready for 2021. Members announced plans to address a number of social issues among the youth in Primrose.
The team said last year was a difficult and challenging year as the pandemic hindered them from achieving their goals they had set for the year.
“Due to the pandemic, our contributions were limited and we could not reach our target, which included recruiting more young people to join the Youth Desk,” said Youth Desk member Siyathandaza Socishe.
“In 2021 we want to again try to recruit young people. As we are still battling the pandemic, we also want to conduct some educational talks on Covid-19 and other social ills that young people are engaged in,” said Siyathandaza.

He said one of their biggest concerns is the increase in the number of young people who are turning to a life of crime.
He said they plan to engage the youth in talks. “We want to educate them more about the consequences of crime, but also to help them to choose the right path in life,” said Siyathandaza.
“We also find that the youth is being careless when it comes to taking precautionary measures and they are not following Covid-19 regulations.”
Young people who are interested in joining Primrose Police Station Youth Desk may phone Primrose SAPS spokesperson Sgt Styles Maome on 079 694 6447 or 011 842 0518.
