Editor – Below are the sentiments of many Primrose residents and it is getting to a stage where residents are going to start protesting outside the municipality and the mayor’s office.
The service delivery in Primrose is disgusting and we want answers. Hundreds of emails were sent to the council and yet nothing gets done. Ekurhuleni municipality has turned Primrose into a criminal’s paradise.
Street lights not working throughout Primrose have caused crime to increase. We are experiencing crime such as theft from our yards, theft of vehicles and theft out of vehicles.
We have so many streets in absolute darkness and houses that have no lights in their yards or gardens. Criminals are jumping over the front walls of properties, cutting electric fencing and then stealing whatever is in our yards, from garden furniture, garden tools to beams and gate motors.

Some of these criminals even break into garages that are easily accessible and steal from the garages. The residents of Primrose are sick and tired of this non-existent service from our municipality.
The Ekurhuleni municipality and our mayor need to either buck up or get out and make way for people who know and can do the job. We as residents of Primrose have had enough!
Why are we paying rates and taxes? Our pavements and parks are so overgrown, we have constant electricity and water outages, potholes are not fixed, there is lack of sanitation and water in the squatter camps where thousands of people live, illegal buildings are erected and when reported no action is taken.
The municipality call centre has no staff as no one ever answers the phone. We want answers and immediate action!
The CPF urges all residents to buy outside lights for their properties and light up their entire property. This makes it more difficult for criminals to hide and easier for CPF, our security companies and the SAPS to find and catch these criminals.
The Ekurhuleni council has let us down and for our safety, let’s take every precaution we can to keep ourselves safe.
Tracy Enslin
Chairperson of Primrose CPF
Editor’s comment – The City of Ekurhuleni commented as follows:
“The roads and stormwater department continually conducts maintenance of roads in the Primrose area as and when required, pothole complaints must be lodged through the call centre so they can be allocated to the depot for corrective maintenance.”
