Nine motorists arrested for drunk driving
Nine motorists were apprehended for drunken driving and one suspect was arrested for possession of drugs.
EMPD officers caught 10 lawbreakers between March 13 and 14 in Katlehong, Germiston, Springs and Thembisa. Nine motorists were apprehended for drunk driving and one suspect was arrested for the possession of drugs.
EMPD spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng said the arrests were made during crime-prevention operations by the Drug Enforcement and Public Order Policing Unit members.
“On March 13 at 1pm, officers uncovered 15 ziplock bags of crystal meth and 57 ziplocks of khat, valued at R15 900, together with R70 cash. “The 49-year-old man was stopped and searched on Second Avenue in Likole Section and taken to Katlehong Police Station.
“He faces charges of possession and possible dealing in illicit substances.” On March 14, between midnight and 6am, EMPD officers in Germiston, Springs and Thembisa also held stop-and-search operations.

The officers conducted sobriety tests using portable breathalysers and nine intoxicated motorists were arrested. Mokheseng said in Germiston, officers arrested three drivers at the corner of Simmer and Meyer streets.
“In Springs, three intoxicated motorists were caught. In Thembisa, three drivers were arrested at the corner of George Nyanga Drive and Andrew Mapheto Street.
