Commuters left stranded because of inconsistent bus arrivals
“Ekurhuleni bus service operates a scheduled service, following a demand survey which is communicated to the passengers timeously. Any changes to the system are communicated,” said Dlamini.

Primrose residents who make use of Ekurhuleni Bus Service (EBS) are not pleased with the service received.
According to passengers, the buses do not arrive on time, leaving them stranded until 6.30pm. A commuter told GCN that nothing has been communicated to commuters about why the buses are not coming at certain times anymore.
“I catch the bus with a lot of elderly women and they are complaining that winter is coming and it’s getting cold in the evening,” said the commuter.

Ekurhuleni spokesperson Zweli Dlamini said CoE is not aware of any bus challenges because buses have been operating according to schedule.
“Delays might occur as the system is operating in mixed traffic. Scheduling will be improved to adhere to the timetable,” said Dlamini.
He said schedules are communicated to commuters.
“EBS operates a scheduled service, following a demand survey that is communicated to the passengers timeously. Changes to the system are communicated,” said Dlamini. “No bus driver is permitted to leave passengers behind and according to our passenger statistics, EBS has more smart card passengers than cash-paying customers. “A cashless system was introduced and passengers prefer its convenience than to pay cash daily,” said Dlamini. “EBS will address all these complaints with our bus drivers to ensure adherence to proper behaviour and schedules,” said Dlamini.
