Boots for Africa SA (BFASA) and Bizhub Lions fast bowler Ayavuya Myoli have put smiles on the faces of local coaches as they donated cricket kits and equipment to four clubs from Kathorus in Thokoza on April 11.

The cricket clubs received new and pre-loved leg pads, helmets, abdominal, thigh, chest and arm guards, gloves, cricket bats and balls, shoes and water bottles.
The clubs that benefited from the donation include:
• Thokoza Super Kings led by coach Teboho Mofokeng.
• Katlehong Cricket Club led by coach Lehlogonolo Phasha.
• Vosloorus Cricket Club led by coach Isaac Phele.
• Katlehong KFC mini-cricket represented by chairperson Nono Ndaba.

BFASA is an organisation that collects sports equipment from around the world and brings it to Africa to equip the youngsters with sports gear to play the sport.
The chairperson of BFASA, Gavin Henry, said they received most of the kit from the Alberton Cricket Club.
“We also received 100 pairs of shoes from counterparts in Australia.
“We wanted to find a community that is close to the Alberton Cricket Club,” said Henry.
He said this gesture will inspire a lot of children to play their favourite sport.
“This brings hope to the community. I have seen here today that a lot of children do not have shoes to be able to play cricket. The girl we gave shoes to today had holes in her shoes. How are you supposed to play the game that you love without basic equipment?” he added.

Henry encouraged more clubs to start collecting and ploughing back into their communities instead of always being on the receiving end.
Teboho Mofokeng, the head coach of Thokoza Super Kings, thanked BFASA. He said the donation will make a huge difference as not all families can afford to buy their children the required equipment.
“The children can’t share anymore becaus eof Covid-19. I am grateful they will all have their own equipment and kits. I don’t know what to say. I am so happy. When children see things like this they want to come and train, learn and enjoy the game,” said Mofokeng.
The youngsters enjoyed their training session with Bizhub Lions player Ayavuya Myoli, who shared bowling tips and closed off the event with a motivational talk with the young aspiring cricket players.
