WeSolve4X invites residents to a fund-raiser to support learners
WeSolve4X hopes to adopt one million learners dealing with reoccurring challenges in public schools, which it wishes to change.
WeSolve4X is inviting residents in and outside of Kathorus to the Elevate the Pass Rate fund-raiser at Thabotona Primary School on July 31.
The event will be between 10:00 to 14:00 at Phase Six, Tsietsi, Extension Nine, Palm Ridge.
The programme focuses on equipping parents with skills to assist their children with maths and monitor and improve their academics based on the annual teaching plan.
It was initiated by a group of graduates in 2017 to readdress the reoccurring challenges in public schools.
The CEO and actuarial analyst of WeSolve4X, Tsietsi Ngobese (27), encouraged residents, parents and local businesses to be part of the solution by adopting a learner or a school.
The programme costs R250 for both parent and child, which includes a grocery hamper containing maize meal, rice, cooking oil and sugar among other things.
He said they decided to add groceries because their parents were unable to pay for classes and buy groceries at home. That resulted in a drop in attendance, so they decided to add groceries so that parents are not forced to choose between food and their children’s education.

“While I was studying, we had programmes where we would go and teach children maths. My team and I recognised the same challenges we experienced while we were still in school are the same challenges other institutions face,” he continued.
“There were also ‘ghost’ teachers who hardly taught, which affected us. Hence, many public schools have a high rate of dropouts and many learners do not finish on time.”
He said he struggled in the first two years of university because he was struggling with Grade Four and high school content. He had to start learning those first before tackling varsity work.
Ngobese said with their experience and understanding of the challenges, they had to find a way to ensure the next wave of learners does not suffer the same fate.
