Ward 36 Clr Wendy Morgan urged residents to partake in the upcoming ward committee elections to be held on April 5.

The function of a ward committee is to bridge the gap between municipalities and communities by encouraging neighbourhoods to play a leading role in actioning and vocalising change in their communities.
Ward committees assist with service delivery by working with the ward councillor to identify service delivery bottlenecks, ensure accountability and assist in driving civic education by delivering information that affects their wards.
“Become a ward committee member and be part of the solution. Nominations for the Ward 36 committee close on March 11. The election date is set for April 5 at 18:30,” said Morgan.
Ward committee consists of the ward councillor, along with the following portfolios: Women and Children, Aged and Disability, Faith-Based Organisations, • Youth, Environmental Development, Infrastructure Services, Economic Development, Infrastructure Services, Economic Development, Health and Social Development, Sport, Heritage, Recreation, Arts and Culture, and Community Safety.
“Requirements are contenders must be a resident/s of the ward or have interest in Ward 36, must not be in arrears with Ekurhuleni account and must be willing to be part of a team,” added Morgan.
