Classrooms gutted in morning fire at Primrose school
The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) said they are aware of the fire that gutted two of the school classrooms.
Gauteng Department of Investigation and police authorities launched an investigation following the fire at Primrose Hill Primary School. Two Grade One classrooms in Primrose Hill Primary School burned down on February 27.

The flames damaged the one block consisting of two classrooms and destroyed furniture and learning material.
The school management was shocked by the news of the fire.
Resident learners vacated to other classes to continue learning.
DEMS spokesperson Eric Maloka said they received a call at approximately 04:25 when the Bedfordview and Primrose fire and rescue teams were dispatched to the school fire.
“Upon their arrival, they reported the classrooms were burning. They worked to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby structures whilst other crew members offensively attacked the fire,” said Maloka.

“Two fire engines and a total of 12 firefighters battled the flames until the fire was under control. The fire was extinguished and they started to damp down to ensure there was no reignition.
“Primrose SAPS and local fire safety officials were summoned to investigate the cause of the fire,” said Maloka.
The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) said they are aware of the fire that gutted the school classrooms.
Steve Mabona GDE spokesperson, confirmed that officials are investigating circumstances surrounding the incident.
“The damages still needs to be determined,” he said.
